About Raymond

Raymond, son of Oscar and Diana Amyotte, was born on December 11, 1939.  He was the baby of the family.  He went to school in Mallaig.  He enjoyed sports, especially baseball and hockey.  Raymond met Barbara Maria Heemskerk in 1976 and they married in April 1977.  They stayed living on the family farm with Diana and Oscar until 2012 when they moved into Mallaig when Philip and Amanda took over the farm. They had 5 children, Martin (February 1978), Rachel (February 1979), Philip (October 1980), Louis (October 1982) and Sylvie (September 1985).

All of their children are now married with children of their own who are Mémère and Pépère’s pride and joy. Martin was married in 2016 to Marie Jubinville and they have 2 boys: Edouard and Alexandre. Rachel was married in 2011 to Paul Gravelle and they have 2 boys: Oscar and Elliott. Philip married Amanda Labrie in 2009 and they have 5 children: Morris, Remi, Daxon and twins Alyvia and Anabelle.  Louis married Crysten Ward in 2011 and they have 2 children: Chloe and Logan. Sylvie was married to Neil Lilje in 2017 and they have 4 boys: Tyrece, Dominic, Sebastien and Raphael and are waiting on their fifth.

Raymond farmed and Maria worked as a teacher for many years. Now they spend their days helping their children and spending time with their grandkids. They are involved heavily, as they always have been, in the community of Mallaig. They are on the boards for the Mallaig Seniors and the Mallaig Museum. They also help a great deal with the St. Jean de Brebeuf Parish. Their hobbies include floor curling, playing cards and chasing whatever sports their grandkids are involved in.

Martin and Sylvie followed in their mother’s footsteps and became teachers. Louis and Philip followed in their father’s footsteps and are farming bees, cattle and grain. Rachel took her own path working in the technology field at Grant McEwan. Martin, Philip, Louis and Sylvie all live near Mallaig with their families while Rachel has settled in Sherwood Park with her family.
